Sandlapper Goes to School
Sandlapper magazine is a rich resource of South Carolina history. It's circulated across the country and overseas, and can be found in libraries and classrooms in South Carolina schools. We are a part of the largest subscriber-only research database in the world. The magazine continues to focus on South Carolina's people, places, history and culture. Our goal is to educate school-aged children about the positive aspects of living in South Carolina. Our hope is that they will stay and prosper, and so will South Carolina.
With this goal in mind, we have created lesson plans to help you teach your students about South Carolina's people, places, history and culture. Designed for a range of grade levels, the curriculum is multi-disciplinary so educators can incorporate state and local history into the study of other subject areas, including literature, science, social science, creative writing and art. The lesson plans are aligned with the South Carolina Department of Education Standards.
You'll also find a multitude of ideas for lively educational field trips and school visits in the menu at left. Explore these ideas for opportunities to expand your students' education beyond the classroom. Thanks to cooperation from many of South Carolina's leading institutions, museums and attractions we are able to assemble a wealth of school programs and lesson plans at locations across the state, including:

For a contribution of just $500, your company's name will be listed for one year in the magazine and on Sandlapper.org, reaching not only readers across South Carolina, but our wonderful and influential teachers in particular!
Another, more personal way to give, is to select a particular school library or teacher's class and donate 35 magazines (any one issue) and have us send them a box of magazines! History teachers think this is better than a bushel of apples and the students' eyes always light up. Maybe you'd like to give to a class in one of our more financially-challenged school districts? We can locate a class for you. Want to remain anonymous? Not a problem. Your cost to give to one classroom or library is a donation of just $300 per issue, per classroom.
