Music of South Carolina School Assembly

Harry Turner's presentation on the history of rock and roll, rhythm and blues and beach music will rock your school! Turner, a former beach music DJ who spent 23 years on the radio, co-authored the bill making the shag the official state dance. During the 80s and 90s, his beach music show was broadcast on over 40 stations across the Southeast. He's authored a book on beach music and teaches a music history course at Coastal Carolina University. Harry shares his knowledge and plays tunes that illustrate the evolution of the genre that shaped America's musical landscape. Then, well-known live singers take center stage to bring down the house. Beach Music International provides the performers, equipment and materials for each class. Harry's presentation gets students and teachers on their feet and dancing to the beat!
